Google, as part of its Google One service, is offering a free VPN service for owners of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro devices. Normally, we'd only get a Google One subscription with VPN at the Premium level, for $46.99 per month, but buying a Pixel 7 phone will get it for free. Google promises that the VPN will be free for at least five years.
How to enable VPN on a Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro phone?
Activating the free VPN service on your Pixel 7 device is very simple. To do so:
- Open the Google One app on your Pixel 7
- Click "Offers" (Benefits)
- Scroll down a bit until you see the option "VPN protection for multiple devices."
- Select "View Details"
- Check the "Enable VPN" option.
In Google One's options, for example, you can set so-called split tunneling, that is, selecting which applications will connect to the Internet via VPN and which will not.
How do I choose which apps on my phone to connect via VPN?
To set this option open the Google One app and then:
- We click on the option "Offers"
- Select the "VPN protection for multiple devices" tab. -> "Show details" -> "Show settings"
- Select "Allow VPN use."
- Select apps from your phone to add to the list by clicking the "plus" icon next to them
For now, Google VPN settings in Google One are quite limited, but with time they should expand them a bit.
